The VW up! is popular with first-time drivers as the car is in a cheap insurance group and costs very little to run. The Polo and Golf are the most popular hatchbacks offering ample room and sleek design features, again economical to own. If you are looking at something with a higher driving position then the compact SUVs T-Cross and T-Roc will be right up your street as they provide more than enough room for family duties and are still reasonably easy to park. The next size up is the Tiguan and Touareg which have even more interior space than the compact SUVs. All the previously mentioned models have high-grade specs which make them that little bit more upmarket. But, if you find you're looking for something with luxury throughout then the Arteon will be of interest to you as this is Volkwagen's executive saloon which is favourable for those who want all the bells and whistles. Hybrid models are also available.
VW have an electric range which features ID3, ID4 and ID5.
VW's models regularly receive the full 5-stars safety rating from Euro NCAP. Some models are also fitted with advanced safety technology to aid the driver on the road.
Volkswagen 4Motion is the name for the 4-wheel-drive system used on their models. All four wheels are provided power from the engine providing better traction. The system is useful for slippery, wet, or off-road conditions.
VW are well-known for their robust German engineering and customer surveys often place the brand towards the top of the list for reliability.
Volkswagen BlueMotion is the term assigned to the models which are more fuel-efficient. These cars generally achieve better fuel efficiency through the use of advanced technology such as Stop-Start and Regenerative Braking resulting in lower fuel consumption.
ID is the name associated with Volkswagen's electric models, such as the VW ID3, ID4, and ID5. You will find other electric versions of traditional models such as the e-up! and e-Golf.
DSG stands for Direct-Shift Gearbox. The gearbox uses two clutches which allows one gear to be selected whilst the next gear is pre-selected to allow for quicker gear changes and smoother drive.

GTI models are the performance-focused range of the VW range. These cars have more power, sportier looks, and refined drive for that ultimate driving experience.
R simply stands for Racing and is used exclusively on VW models that have the most powerful engines to give drivers the supercar performance in an everyday hatchback. If you like the look but don't need the extra horsepower then an R-Line trim level is available on some VW models which come with the sporty interior and exterior styling.
